Flokk Privacy Policy

Flokk is a small app for letting your friends know when you're out doing something. We collect as little data as possible, and we never sell any of it. This page explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have.

What data we collect

Account: your email address and display name. You can sign in with email and password, Apple, or Google. We also store your friend code and who you're friends or in a group with — that's what makes pins visible to the right people.

Location: we read your location only at the moment you drop a pin. The location is shared only with the friends or group you choose, and the pin expires automatically (2 hours by default). We never track you in the background, and your location is never sent to analytics tools.

Usage analytics (only if you say yes): usage analytics via PostHog is off by default. It's only enabled if you actively consent in the app, and you can withdraw consent at any time under Profile → Privacy. The analytics never contain location, message content, or IP-based geolocation — just events like "pin dropped" or "friend added".

Crash data: if the app crashes, a technical error report is sent to Sentry so we can fix the bug. Reports are not tied to your account, and we don't include your IP address or other personal details.

What the data is used for

Only to make the app work: showing pins to the right friends, sending notifications when someone drops a pin, fixing bugs, and (if you've consented) understanding which features actually get used. Nothing is used for advertising or tracking you across other apps and websites.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored in the EU: the database runs on Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany (eu-central-1), and analytics go to PostHog's EU servers.

How long we keep your data

Pins expire automatically (2 hours by default) and are then deleted. Your account exists until you delete it: go to Profile → Delete account in the app, and the account plus all associated data (profile, friends, groups, pins, and messages) is removed.
